Commercial Display Freezers
Frozen stock only sells if a customer can see it. Rent a commercial display freezer from Rental+ and you get a Lowe or Interlevin unit on a fully maintained plan, with no upfront capital outlay. Convenience stores, forecourts, cafes, takeaways, bakeries, farm shops and canteens across the UK use our plans to put frozen lines in front of the customer, from a 113 litre countertop unit at the till to a triple glass door upright holding over 1,500 litres. Why rent a commercial display freezer from Rental+
Renting keeps your capital in stock and staff rather than in refrigeration that depreciates from the day it is switched on. You pay a fixed weekly amount by direct debit on a multi-year plan, and every plan includes inclusive service and maintenance: call-outs, routine servicing, parts and Planned Preventive Maintenance at no extra cost.
That covers the parts that actually fail on a display freezer. Door seals, handles, hinges and the rest of the wear items are looked after as part of the plan rather than excluded from it, and if a unit cannot be repaired our fix or replace commitment means it is replaced. Our nationwide network of engineers covers you wherever you trade, there is no upfront capital expenditure, and there are no hidden costs. On a cabinet holding stock you have already paid for, that is the difference between an inconvenience and a write-off.
What is a display freezer?
A display freezer is a commercial freezer designed to hold frozen stock at temperature while keeping it visible and within reach, through glass doors or a glass lid. Front of house, that means customers browse and serve themselves. Back of house, it means a chef reaches the right product without opening a solid door and hunting for it.
Types of commercial display freezer
Countertop display freezers
A countertop unit puts a small quantity of frozen stock exactly where the buying decision happens, next to the till. Our Lowe N2-FF113 holds 113 litres in a single-door counter top cabinet, which is enough for impulse lines without taking floor space you need for circulation. If your problem is the last two feet of the customer journey rather than bulk capacity, this is the answer.
Upright glass door display freezers
Uprights are what most retailers mean by a display freezer or frozen display cabinets. A glass door puts stock at eye level, front to back, so a narrow footprint carries a lot of visible product. Our range runs from the G1CH slimline at 208 litres and the G1-FF460 at 440 litres, through the G1-F75 at 560 litres and the G7 and G7DF double-door units at around 1,000 litres, up to the triple-door G8-F134 and G8-F188 at 1,084 and 1,563 litres. Interlevin glass door units cover the smaller end at 300 litres and below.
Chest and sliding lid display freezers
Chest freezers with glass lids do a different job: bulk frozen stock, browsed from above, with cold that stays in the cabinet because it sits below the opening. They are the efficient choice for volume lines and for promotional bins, and our Interlevin IC500SC sliding flat glass lid unit is built for exactly that. Sliding lids also mean the aisle does not need clearance for a door to swing.
Slimline and undercounter options
Where the floor plan is already full, a slimline upright such as the Lowe G1CH at 208 litres gives you glass door display in a much narrower footprint. It is the usual answer for a convenience store that has run out of wall but not out of frozen lines to sell.
Choosing the right display freezer
Capacity, from 113 to over 1,500 litres
Size to your stock turn rather than to the gap in the floor plan. A cabinet that is too large runs half empty and costs you energy for nothing; one that is too small runs out on a Friday afternoon. Our range gives you a genuine ladder from 113 litres to 1,563 litres, so you can match the unit to how much frozen product you actually move in a week.
Front of house or back of house
A front of house unit is merchandising equipment: it needs to look right, sit where customers walk and hold stock at eye level. A back of house unit is working equipment: it needs to be quick to open, close to the prep bench and easy to clean around. The same cabinet rarely does both jobs well, so decide which one you are buying before you choose a model.
Glass door or solid door
Glass sells, and it also works harder. Every time a warm shop floor meets a cold cabinet through a glass door, the unit has to pull that heat back out. Glass is still the right answer front of house because visible stock sells faster than hidden stock, but in a warm room, or anywhere out of the customer’s sight, a solid door holds cold with less effort.
Bottom mounted or top mounted refrigeration
Several units in our range are bottom mounted, with the refrigeration pack underneath rather than on top. Bottom mounting keeps the warm components out of the rising heat of a busy shop, which helps in a warm room, and it puts the serviceable parts at a height an engineer can reach without emptying the cabinet. It also frees the top of the unit for signage.
Display freezer or display fridge?
The difference is frozen against chilled, and most sites specify both at once: a display fridge for drinks, sandwiches and dairy, ice cream display freezers, frozen ready meals and frozen food lines. If you are fitting out a full retail chiller and freezer wall, look at our commercial display fridges alongside the freezers here.
What is included in every rental
Every commercial display freezer rental is fully maintained. Our rental plans cover call-outs, routine servicing, parts and Planned Preventive Maintenance, including the door seals and hinges that take the punishment on a cabinet opened hundreds of times a day. Our fix or replace commitment means a unit that cannot be repaired is replaced. There are no hidden costs. Plans use new or reconditioned equipment, and reconditioned units are fully quality checked and maintained to the same standard as new stock.
How display freezer hire works
- Choose your freezer and request a quote, or build an indicative quote in the basket with no payment taken.
- We run a soft credit check and confirm the plan that fits your business.
- You set up a security deposit and your weekly direct debit.
- We deliver and commission the unit, and from that point the plan covers service, parts and maintenance.

FAQs
Frequenty Asked Questions
What is a display freezer?
A display freezer is a commercial freezer designed to keep frozen stock visible and reachable as well as cold, usually through glass doors or a glass lid. Retailers use them front of house so customers can browse and serve themselves; kitchens use them where quick access to frozen ingredients matters more than bulk storage. Either way, the point is that the stock sells itself.
What temperature does a display freezer run at?
Commercial display freezers hold frozen stock well below zero, and the working range depends on the model and on what you are storing. Rather than quote a figure that may not match the unit you take, the product specifications above give the range for each model, and our team will confirm the right setting for your stock when the unit is delivered and commissioned.
Should I choose a chest or an upright display freezer?
Choose upright if customers need to browse and floor space is tight, because a glass door display puts more stock at eye level per square metre. Choose chest or sliding lid if you are holding bulk frozen stock, because they hold cold better every time they are opened and use less energy doing it. Many sites run one of each.
Who maintains the freezer while I am renting it?
We do, and this is the part worth reading. Every plan includes inclusive service and maintenance: call-outs, routine servicing, parts and Planned Preventive Maintenance at no extra cost, from our nationwide network of engineers. Door seals, handles, hinges and other wear items are covered rather than excluded, and if a unit cannot be repaired it is replaced.
Can one plan cover display freezers across several sites?
Yes. One plan can equip a single site or standardise the same equipment across several, which is how multi-site retailers and groups keep their frozen display consistent from shop to shop. You keep the flexibility to add units or upgrade them as the estate changes, all on the same weekly direct debit.
Is the equipment new or reconditioned?
Plans use new or reconditioned equipment. Reconditioned units are fully quality checked and maintained to the same standard as new stock, and every plan carries identical inclusive service and maintenance cover whichever you receive. Tell us if you have a preference when you request your quote and we will confirm what is available.
