Commercial Food Mixer Rental

A commercial mixer is the backbone of any kitchen that bakes, whips or kneads in volume, turning heavy, repetitive mixing into consistent results batch after batch. Rental+ hires planetary and spiral dough mixers on inclusive equipment-as-a-service plans, so you get professional-grade mixing power with servicing, parts and call-outs built in and no upfront capex to find.

What is a commercial mixer?

A commercial mixer, or commercial food mixer, is a powered machine that combines, beats, whips and kneads ingredients far faster and more consistently than doing it by hand. Built for continuous, day-long use, industrial mixers hold much larger volumes than domestic models, run more powerful motors, and drive a range of interchangeable attachments such as flat beaters, wire whisks and spiral dough hooks. Choosing the right type comes down to what you make and how much of it. There are two main families.

Planetary mixers

A planetary mixer has a single agitator that rotates around a fixed bowl on an orbiting “planetary” motion, reaching every part of the mix. Versatile all-rounders, they handle everything from cake batter, meringue and cream to mashed potato, pate and lighter doughs. Swapping the beater, whisk or hook lets one machine cover most of a kitchen’s mixing jobs, which is why the planetary is the default choice for general catering and patisserie.

Spiral and dough mixers

A spiral, or dough, mixer uses a fixed spiral hook and a rotating bowl, developing bread and pizza dough gently without overheating it. If your kitchen turns out dough in volume, a dedicated dough mixer gives stronger, more consistent gluten development than a general planetary, and protects the dough temperature that matters so much to a good prove. For rolling and sheeting that dough once it is mixed, see our dough rollers.

Why rent a commercial mixer?

Renting keeps a workhorse machine reliable without tying up capital. Every Rental+ plan includes servicing, parts, call-outs and Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) at no extra cost, delivered by our nationwide network of engineers. Mixers work hard, and their gears, seals, drives and safety guards take real punishment over a busy week, so our fix-or-replace guarantee matters: if a machine cannot be repaired on site, it is replaced, and your production keeps moving.

There is no upfront capex. Rather than buying outright, you spread the cost over a multi-year plan, typically three to seven years, paid by weekly direct debit, then scale the specification up or down as your menu and volumes change. Choose new or reconditioned “Used Approved” equipment from leading brands such as Robot Coupe, every unit fully quality-checked and maintained to the same standard. With 46 years of experience behind us, we help you match the right mixer to the right job.

Sizes and capacity

Commercial mixers are sized by bowl capacity in litres, and choosing the right one is about matching output to demand. Smaller countertop planetary mixers suit cafes and light patisserie work, mid-range floor-standing models cover busy restaurant and bakery service, and high-capacity planetary and spiral machines handle heavy dough production and large-batch catering. As a rule, size for your busiest batch rather than your average one, so the motor is never straining at peak, and remember that most mixers work best when the bowl is neither over-filled nor near-empty. If you are unsure, our team can help you specify capacity against your menu and covers before you commit, and adjust it later if your volumes grow.
