Serve over counter display fridges for deli and butchery

A serve over counter display fridge puts chilled product at eye level on the customer side of the counter and keeps it at a safe serving temperature all day. Renting one from Rental+ means the counter, the service and the maintenance come together on a single weekly payment, with no upfront capital cost.

Our serve over counters cover deli, butchery, fishmonger and farm shop use, in flat glass and curved glass, with refrigerated understorage where you need to hold back-up stock behind the display. Every unit is covered for service, parts and labour for as long as you rent it.

Choosing a serve over counter

The three decisions are length, temperature and glass. Length is set by the run you have and the product range you want visible at once. Temperature is set by what you are holding, since fresh meat, fish and dairy do not all sit comfortably at the same point. The glass profile, straight or curved, is mostly a presentation choice and a cleaning one.

What is included in the rental

Inclusive service and maintenance covers call-outs, routine servicing, parts and Planned Preventive Maintenance at no extra cost, and if a unit cannot be fixed it is replaced. Refrigeration failure in a counter full of fresh product is the risk worth removing, and our engineers cover the whole of the UK.

Serve over counter fridge or multideck

A serve over counter is served. A multideck is self-service. Sites often run both, with the serve over holding the counter trade and open-fronted commercial display fridges carrying the grab and go range alongside it.

How serve over counter hire works

A soft credit check, then a security deposit and direct debit, then delivery and installation. Plans run on a multi-year term paid by weekly direct debit and span from three to seven years, with no upfront capital expenditure. See more information on our rental plans explained page.

Serve over counters by trade

A butchery counter, a fish counter and a patisserie counter are the same piece of equipment specified three different ways. Meat and fish need lower holding temperatures and a drainage provision the others do not. Cheese and charcuterie need humidity that does not dry the product across a trading day. Patisserie is the one where the glass and the lighting matter most, because the sale is visual.

Tell us the trade and the product and the specification follows from it.

What a serve over counter needs on site

Counters are heavy, they are delivered in one piece, and the access route is the thing that most often causes a problem on the day. Doorways, corners and floor level all matter. Drainage and power position should be confirmed before delivery rather than on it.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I rent a serve over counter rather than buy one?

Yes. Serve over counters are available on a Rental+ plan on a multi-year term paid by weekly direct debit, with inclusive service and maintenance and no upfront capital expenditure.

What temperature does a serve over counter hold?

It depends what is going in it. Fresh meat, fish, dairy and patisserie do not all sit at the same point, so the unit is specified against the product range rather than to a single setting.

What happens if the refrigeration fails?

Call-outs, parts and servicing are included at no extra cost and our engineers cover the whole of the UK. If a unit cannot be repaired it is replaced.
