Why rent a glass froster from Rental+

Renting keeps your capital in the business rather than in equipment that depreciates from the day it is plumbed in. Our nationwide network of engineers covers you wherever you trade, and our fix or replace commitment means a unit that cannot be repaired is replaced. There is no upfront capital expenditure and no hidden costs.

What is a glass froster?

A glass froster is a refrigerated cabinet built to hold glassware below freezing, so the glass frosts on contact with the drink and the drink stays colder for longer. It is sold interchangeably as a bar glass chiller. The distinction that matters behind the bar is this: a froster chills the glass, a bottle cooler chills the stock, and most bars need both.

Glass froster or bottle cooler?

They solve different halves of the same problem. A bottle cooler holds bottles and cans at serving temperature, ready to go straight into a customer’s hand. A glass froster holds the glassware, which is what keeps a poured drink cold from the first mouthful to the last. If you are specifying a bar from scratch, look at our bottle coolers and upright bottle coolers alongside the frosters below.

Choosing the right glass froster

Top load or front load

Top load frosters sit under the counter and open upwards, so your bartender reaches down into the cabinet without stepping away from the till or the taps. That is usually the fastest arrangement for a busy wet-led bar. Front load units open outwards and suit the back bar, where they can be reached from either side of a service well. Both types are in the range below at 600 mm wide.

Glass door or solid door

A glass door puts frosted glassware on display, which is a genuine part of the serve in a cocktail bar or a hotel lounge. A solid door holds cold better and is the more practical choice in a warm room or where the unit is out of the customer’s sight anyway. Our range covers both, in stainless steel and anthracite finishes.

Capacity by service, not by litres

Manufacturers quote litres. Bars think in glasses, and the two do not translate neatly because a stemmed glass wastes space a straight glass does not. Work from your busiest hour: how many frosted glasses do you actually need standing ready, and how quickly does the cabinet need to recover once the shelf has been emptied. Tell us your glassware and your peak and we will size the unit around it.

Fitting it into the bar

Every froster in our range is 600 mm wide, which is the standard bar module and makes planning straightforward. Allow ventilation clearance at the grille, keep the unit out of direct sun and away from a glasswasher’s exhaust, and choose your finish to match the rest of the counter. Stainless steel and anthracite are both stocked.

Our glass froster range

Browse the range above. We rent IMC glass frosters, including the Frostar FR60 600 mm top load in black and stainless steel and the Ventus VR60 600 mm front load with glass doors in stainless steel and black painted frames, alongside Gamko GF/100 600 mm front load frosters with glass and solid doors in anthracite and stainless steel. Between them they cover top and front loading, glass and solid doors and both standard bar finishes. If you need a different width or a model that is not shown, tell us about your bar and we will come back with options.

What is included in every rental

Every glass froster rental is fully maintained. Our rental plans cover call-outs, routine servicing, parts and Planned Preventive Maintenance, which matters on a cabinet that runs below freezing every trading hour. Our fix or replace commitment means a unit that cannot be repaired is replaced. There are no hidden costs. Plans use new or reconditioned equipment, and reconditioned units are fully quality checked and maintained to the same standard as new stock.

FAQs

Frequenty Asked Questions

What is a glass froster?

A glass froster is a dedicated refrigerated cabinet that holds glassware below freezing, so the glass frosts the moment a drink is poured into it. It is also sold as a bar glass chiller. It is not a bottle cooler and not a back bar fridge: those chill what goes in the glass, while a froster chills the glass itself.

Is a glass froster the same as a glass chiller?

Yes. The trade uses both names for the same product, and you will see either on manufacturer specifications. What matters is not confusing it with a blast chiller, which is a completely different piece of refrigeration used to bring hot food down through the danger zone. If you need one of those, we rent those too, on the same inclusive plans.

Where does a glass froster fit behind the bar?

That depends on whether you take a top load or a front load unit. Top load frosters sit under the counter and open upwards, so the bartender reaches down into them without turning round. Front load units open outwards and can be sited in the back bar, where a glass door also puts the frosted glassware on display. Both are 600 mm wide in our range.

How many glasses does a glass froster hold?

It depends on the unit and on your glassware, because a stemmed wine glass and a straight pint take very different amounts of space. Every unit in our range is 600 mm wide, which covers a normal bar service comfortably, and the product specifications above give capacity per model. Tell us your glassware and your busiest service and we will size it properly.

Is the equipment new or reconditioned?

Plans use new or reconditioned equipment. Reconditioned units are fully quality checked and maintained to the same standard as new stock, and every plan carries identical inclusive service and maintenance cover whichever you receive. A froster works hard and cold all day, which is exactly why the servicing sits with us rather than with you.
