Robot Coupe

Robot Coupe are a French company, based in Burgundy, who invented the very first commercial food processor in 1963 and following it up with the first domestic one, the Magimix in 1974. They are synonymous with good quality and hard wearing professional machines.

Two Choices – many variants

The two floor-standing machines are the CL55 and the CL60. They are very similar in what they can do – the only real difference is scale – how much food they can produce.

The CL55 can output up to 1,200kg per hour of prepared veg, although practically that’s going to be more like 400kg.  The CL60 can produce up to 1,800kg an hour (realistic output about 600kg an hour). That shows what these machines are designed for: big catering businesses – feeding hundreds and thousands of people a day.

So, if you are running the kind of business where you are doing outside catering or have numerous large events, these machines are perfect for you. They are a big investment, but if you compare them to the other option – paying someone to chop 1,000s of kgs of carrots for an event, you can see, instantly, the type of savings you can make. Hundreds of man hours, at a decent wage, will soon add up. You’re buying consistent efficiency.

Options for rental

So, what are your options? For both, the basic model is the Pusher Feed Head, which is, essentially, the machine and a stand to hold it, and that’s it. This means you have to add your choice of cutting blades (because without them the machines are useless). There are different packs depending on what you want to achieve, including the multicut pack which includes 16 discs.

Next up is the two hoppers option on both. This is again a basic package, but includes an extra hopper  – in this case an Automatic feed hopper with the CL55 and a Bulk feed hopper with the CL60. These are great additions to the machines, especially if you are doing very large events, but you also need to remember that the blades still come separately.

Finally on both these machines there is the Workstation option. This is the all-singing-all dancing option for both these machines. In the package you get the machine, the pusher head and the automatic feed head, a potato ricer, containers for the veg you cut and a multi-pack of 16 blades. The blades include slicers, graters, french fries, dicing, julienne and a cleaning kit.

The CL60 workstation also comes with an adjustable trolley and another head -designed for long thin vegetables like cucumbers and courgettes. It also comes with a storage trolley for all the accessories you receive.

Conclusion

The Robot Coupe Floor standing veg prep machines are great for large scale businesses doing big large amounts of meals. The three options on each give you different entry points in terms of price, but on the two cheaper options on both you need to purchase blades separately. The Workstation options on both are great setups that will leave you wanting for nothing in your veg prep needs.
